Section 1: Joining The Server

1.0A Pressing Connect & Loading Screen

(Keywords: New, Lost, Connect, Load, Log, Character ID, Slot ID)

When you first press connect after finding our server, you will have to download the resources (cache them) before seeing the loading screen. The wait time varies on a per-person basis- more specifically, the faster your download speed, the faster your PC will cache our server’s resources. You will then see our loading screen, featuring a beautiful static image because FiveM took away the freedom of whatever music we want (TOS enforcement).

1.0B ‘Discord Username Not Found’ Error

Our server relies heavily on Discord being open prior to joining our server. Please restart your FiveM client after opening the Discord Desktop Application. If a message pops up asking for FiveM to access your account data, this simply wants your username and your unique identifier and nothing more. We use the unique identifier for player identification rather than Steam Hexadecimal Account IDs (commonly referred to as your “hex code”). Your unique identifier allows you to still be identified despite changing your username.

Open your FiveM Client and check the Connected Accounts in the settings found in the upper right-hand corner. Ensure that your Discord username appears next to the Discord icon. If it does not, feel free to open a support ticket and we will help you with getting FiveM to link with Discord.

1.0C Loading Screen Music Controls

As of later versions like V1.7.3+, we no longer provide music or video while the game loads. But if it returns in the future:

If the music is too loud, press your up and down arrows before the character picker appears. To randomly switch the song, press your left or right arrows. Press Space Bar to pause/play the song- the videos cannot be paused and will continue play no matter what.

1.1A Before The Login Screen - Initial Error Message (Discord Roles Not Found)

You’ve joined the server and a black screen appears stating that you’re not a Discord member- fear not! All you have to do is follow this simple guide to fix the error:

If you have already joined our Discord:

Simply accept the rules by trying to communicate in one of the main channels or via a support ticket. Once you obtain your FiveM Access role, press the button shown on screen to refresh your observed Discord roles in-game. The error should disappear automatically.

If you have NOT joined our Discord specifically:

Join our Discord, then complete onboarding or open a support ticket. From there, press the button shown on screen and you should be good to go. Restart FiveM if this does not work, which ensures that the scripts know you’re now officially in our Discord with the FiveM Access role.

1.2A During The Login Screen - Character Creation (Discord Member With Roles)

Once you load in, the cinematic camera will show our character sign-up screen.

You are allowed to use any RP name that complies with our rules. Don’t be racist/homophobic or otherwise a troll with your name, and it’s not recommended to be a celebrity- we’re here to be creative and have fun with originality. Characters that are made in violation of our rules will be forcefully renamed or deactivated.

For your height, please convert inches to CM if you are using inches.

We offer “Male”, “Female”, and “Other” gender options- your character will not spawn based on what you pick, so please use the clothing circle to fix this later- this will be discussed in a separate article.

For your birthday, either type in the date using mm/dd/yyyy format or click the calendar next to the text box. We only support characters born between 1900 and 2004. We do not allow characters under the age of 18 for any reason, and anyone who is 16+ needs to make an adult character. Because the cut-off of 2004 was made between 2023 and 2025, please contact staff if you wish to make an adult character born after 2004.

After you’ve typed in the basic information of your character, press Create to embark on your RP session with your new character!

1.2B During The Login Screen - Picking An Existing Character

Open the login screen (upon entering the server or via a character switcher located at various spots around the map). You will see your characters, so simply press on the name and press the green Spawn button.

If you wish to create another character, simply press (New Character Slot) and repeat Section 1.2A. You can create up to 100 characters, and this is only a limit we impose- we could go higher if we wanted to!

1.2C During The Login Screen - Wiping A Character

If you wish to wipe your character, here are a few details worth mentioning: A wipe will erase any and all known data specific to your character (except for a few things, especially things that are stored in a central database like property ownership). Staff cannot and will not recover anything deleted via a character wipe! If you are wiping your character to “solve a bug”- stop! Let our staff team help you solve your issue. Fortunately, wiping a character hasn’t been the only solution to a problem, so please utilize our support team before a wipe. Transferring assets before wiping a character is NOT allowed without prior staff approval.

You can also declare bankruptcy and wipe your character’s assets without erasing your character. See (section TBD) for more information. This will reset your debt and give your character a fresh financial start.

IF AND ONLY IF YOU UNDERSTAND THE RISKS OF DELETING A CHARACTER, open the login screen (upon entering the server or via a character switcher located at various spots around the map), press the character name you wish to delete, press the red Delete button, then type in the name of the character, in full. If we showed you a demo of deleting “Jack Steel”, placing the “l” after “Jack Stee” will trigger deletion IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT TYPE THE NAME IN FULL IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO DELETE THE CHARACTER.

1.3A After The Login Screen - Initial Pedestrian Generation

Now that you are successfully in the server for the first time on your new character, continue reading this subsection if you are new: You may be wondering why you’re a fat ass, an old woman, or some other weird pedestrian- That is because upon loading in as your character for the first time, KORE will automatically pick your model for you. By skipping to the clothing shop section, you will learn how to use the red circle near the spawn (if you are at LSIA). If you wish to make a new character or simply switch to another one (or wipe a character entirely- this may not change your model to a desirable one), the white circle behind it will let you re-open the login screen.

1.3B After The Login Screen - Initial Hotel Spawn Location

When you first load in as a new player (or new character), you’ll notice 3 different circles: Under you, there is a red circle along with a white one behind you next to the hotel doors, and when you look toward the airport, there is a blue circle near a pillar. The red circle is a special clothing menu emplacement made for new players to design their characters in one easy spot. The white circle next to the hotel is for switching your characters (via loading the login screen instantly), which helps if you wish to create your characters in bulk. ALL clothing and cosmetic changes are free except for tattoos (tattoos have their own shops across the map). You’ll notice that a few distant emplacements show 3D text on your screen. Car rentals are available at the Escalera Rent-A-Car nearby going toward LSIA, and the property listings circle is across the street to the right- face towards the LS Customs nearby and pan right just a bit.

1.3C After The Login Screen - Location Selection

When you load in as a returning character, a menu will appear with various spots around the map as well as a button to return to the login screen. You can freely use this menu to set your spawn location to wherever you wish to embark on your next RP session. This includes predefined spots, your last location, inside your house, inside a friend’s house, and more. Newly created characters will continue to spawn at the hotel described in section 1.3B.

1.4A The “About Creative Life RP” Menu (Basics)

See Section 3 - The Main Menu to go into depth, but the following description boils it all down: The help menu is designed for those that need help, and it will automatically open and take you to the Server Changes section every time you join the server or switch characters no matter what. To close it out, simply press any button that means “Back”. Do it again to exit the main menu that contains several categories of information, ranging from an FAQ to keybinds used within the server. We did it this way to increase your awareness that CLRP has help available at all times, and our staff team is more than happy to assist players if anything unusual pops up.

You can also access the K menu and the Z menu at the bottom of the main menu of it. Pressing T and typing /help is the quickest way to open it if you prefer commands, but we recommend pressing ‘Z’ followed by ‘Enter’. This design choice is not only helpful, but also leftover from early development, when the “Z” and “About CLRP” menus were one script. You can also press K > Scroll Down To ‘Settings’ > Press The ‘Help Menu’ Button.
