SECTION 1: Joining The Server

1.0A Pressing Connect & Loading Screen

(Keywords: New, Lost, Connect, Load, Log, Character ID, Slot ID)

When you first press connect after finding our server, you will have to download the resources (cache them) before seeing the loading screen. The wait time varies on a per-person basis- more specifically, the faster your download speed, the faster your PC will cache our server’s resources. You will then see our loading screen, featuring a series of videos that will attempt to play at HD 60FPS, but that is only if your PC, our server, and YouTube cooperate enough to allow that.

1.0B ‘Discord Username Not Found’ Error

Our server relies heavily on Discord being open prior to joining our server. Please restart your FiveM client after opening the Discord Desktop Application. If a message pops up asking for FiveM to access your account data, this simply wants your username and your unique identifier and nothing more. We use the unique identifier for player identification rather than Steam Hexidecimal Account IDs (your “hex code”). Your unique identifier allows you to still be identified despite changing your username or the numbers tacked onto the end (the discriminator).

Open your FiveM Client and check the Connected Accounts in the settings found in the upper right-hand corner. Ensure that your Discord username appears next to the Discord icon. If it does not, feel free to open a support ticket and we will help you with getting FiveM to link with Discord.

1.0C Loading Screen Music Controls

If the music is too loud, press your up and down arrows before the character picker appears. To randomly switch the song, press your left or right arrows. Press Space Bar to pause/play the song- the videos cannot be paused and will continue play no matter what.

1.1A Before The Login Screen - Initial Error Message (Discord Roles Not Found)

You’ve joined the server and a black screen appears stating that you’re not a Discord member- fear not! All you have to do is follow this simple guide to fix the error:

If you have already joined our Discord:

Simply accept the rules by trying to communicate in one of the main channels or via a support ticket. Once you obtain your FiveM Access role, press the button shown on screen to refresh your observed Discord roles in-game. The error should disappear automatically.

1.1B During The Login Screen - Initial Registration (Discord Member With Roles)

Once you load in, the video will now feature an overlay containing a prompt for character registration. You are allowed to use any RP name that complies with our rules. For your height, please convert inches to CM if you are using inches. For your birthday, we have a specific format in place. Here’s an example of how to convert a common format to our format: May 5, 1991 will be entered as “05/06/1991” (without the quotes). If you put “06/05/1991”, that will be June 5, 1991. Single digit integers must have a 0 placed in front.
YES, it is technically possible to use racist or homophobic words within this app, but seriously- DO NOT TRY IT. If you do, you’ll quickly learn why defiance is wrong. You will be punished to some degree and at the very least, you will receive a penalty and a name change. You are also at risk of having your character deactivated &/or erased.

1.1C During The Login Screen - Post-Registration

After you’ve typed in your name, date of birth, height, and picked the best-matched sex of your character, regardless of your character’s gender identity, you will then see an overlay screen with 12 slots. The pattern for which slot ID a character is using is as follows:

1 4  7 10

2 5  8 11

3 6  9 12

Once you see all 12 slots, press Choose Character to embark on your next RP session! 

1.2A During The Login Screen - Wiping Your Character

If you wish to wipe your character, here are a few details worth mentioning: A wipe will erase any and all known data specific to your character (except your phone number due to the limited possibilities and how we originally implemented 12 phone numbers per user as well as a few other options- though this may not be true).  You can accept or cancel this action by pressing the correct button presented on screen. Staff cannot and will not recover anything deleted via a character wipe! If you are wiping your character to “solve a bug”- stop! Let our staff team help you solve your issue. Fortunately, wiping a character hasn’t been the only solution to a problem, so please utilize our support before a wipe. Transferring assets before wiping a character is NOT allowed without staff approval.

1.3A After The Login Screen - Pedestrian Generation

Now that you are successfully in the server for the first time on your new character, continue reading this subsection if you are new: You may be wondering why you’re a fat ass, an old woman, or some other weird pedestrian- That is because upon loading in as your character for the first time, KORE will automatically pick your model for you. By skipping to the clothing shop section, you will learn how to use the red circle near the spawn (if you are at LSIA). If you wish to make a new character or simply switch to another one (or wipe a character entirely- this may not change your model to a desirable one), the white circle behind it will let you re-open the login screen.

1.4A The Hotel Spawn Location

(Keywords: Spawn, Load, Teleporter, Switcher, Change Character, Clothing Menu)

When you first load in as a new player (or new character), you’ll notice 3 different circles: Under you, there is a red circle along with a white one behind you next to the hotel doors, and when you look toward the airport, there is a blue circle near a pillar. The red circle is a clothing menu emplacement in case you don’t want to stay as a default model (which is often a weird one), the white one next to the hotel is for switching your characters (via loading the 12 slot login screen instantly), and the blue circle is for the new player barber shop- this is for adjusting your hair and other head cosmetics when creating your character. ALL clothing and cosmetic changes are free except for tattoos (tattoos have their own shops across the map). You’ll notice that a few distant emplacements show 3D text on your screen. Car rentals are available at the Escalera Rent-A-Car nearby going toward LSIA, and the property listings circle is across the street to the right- face towards the LS Customs nearby and pan right just a bit.

1.5A The “About Creative Life RP” Menu (Basics)

(Keywords: Help, Menu, Commands, FAQ, Changes, Keybinds, Rules, About)

See Section 3 - The Main Menu to go into depth, but the following description boils it all down: The help menu is designed for those that need help, and it will automatically open and take you to the Server Changes section every time you join the server or switch characters no matter what. To close it out, simply press any button that means “Back”. Do it again to exit the main menu that contains several categories of information, ranging from an FAQ to keybinds used within the server. 

You can also access the K menu and the Z menu at the bottom of the main menu of it. /help is the quickest way to open it if you prefer commands, but we recommend pressing ‘Z’ followed by ‘Enter’ because when it was first being developed, the Z and help menus were both one script, but early in the initial development efforts (on CL/COMRP in July 2019), I (Kale) decided to split them apart, but I left the easy access button inside of the Z list. You can also press K > Scroll Down To ‘Settings’ > Press The ‘Help Menu’ Button. Hopefully we won’t mind the perspective changes within this guide.
