All rules are subject to change with or without notice.

If you committed an act that goes against a rule(s) before the “Last Updated” date, you are exempt only in that one instance.

By being in our community, you agree to adhere to our rules in their entirety.

ALWAYS Roleplay EVERYTHING

(Meaning- Don’t Do FailRP Stuff)

Most think “I’m able to follow this rule, how hard is RP anyway?” Well, it takes many years to get good, but it starts now with getting better without making mistakes. CLRP is a high standards community and we’re throwing you into the deep end of the pool. Yes, we have life savers for the new-to-RP people, but you need to ask for advice from staff before roleplaying.

Otherwise, you’ll drown (get punished)

We want to keep you from drowning on Day 1 if you don’t know what FailRP is, so we’ve provided some examples of it below:

  • Continue running after being shot in the leg as if nothing had happened.

  • Stop roleplaying and complain in OOC chat because a rule was broken during the roleplay.

  • Disregard happenings that would result in the death of your character ( falls from substantial heights, headshots, fires, head-on collisions, etc. ) regardless of your OOC health / armor level.

There are millions of examples, so please think about how it would play out in real life before you act in-game. This will help you make better judgements.

Another thing: We don’t want you breaking character.

Upon spawning in, you are to stay in character at all times, even if the scene is “ruined”. “4th world” terminology must be kept at a minimum (mainly for helping players do things, we call it this because you’re technically in-character if you use “4th world” terms properly), and blatantly mentioning real-life things like “my screen” and “the game” are prohibited.

No RDM/VDM!

This means no killing anyone without reason, and no hitting anyone with a vehicle without express out-of-character consent from the future-victim.

Overly Offensive Words, Comments, Remarks, Jokes, Etc. Are Not Welcomed AT ALL

All communication rules on our Discord apply in-game. Do not break these rules in RP or outside of RP either!

Take Risks & Don’t Only Settle For Wins

We are here for roleplay, not for the number of “wins” you can rack up. If you can't give a win, don't take one. We do not tolerate the "I must always win" mentality many players have developed.

No Metagaming!

  • Do not use Snapchat, Instagram, Discord, etc. (social media outside of the game) to obtain in-character information, unless it’s a publicly announced event post with details for a meet-up time and location

  • Do not use information from your live stream’s chat, unless chat is pointing out something you simply missed but would otherwise know in-character legitimately

  • Do not use other people’s streams in any capacity to obtain in-character information

  • You must use the in-game phone or the in-game radio to transmit your voice over long-distance in-game

  • You must use the in-game phone to transmit text and other media over long-distance in-game

  • You cannot use character A’s information on Character B (or naturally know special information you obtained out of character) because you the player know it already- it has to be obtained on Character B legitimately. Example: Knowing how the cops work on Character B during their first robbery because you’re a cop on Character A or you watched https://twitch.tv/iamcprhoff1 and learned how he does police work before your character’s first robbery

No Baiting The Cops (Or EMS, Taxi, Mechanics, etc.)

Do not commit crimes in front of an officer on purpose, such as doing “donuts”, burnouts, killing locals or even players, etc. & do not use summoning features to bait public service members into becoming your hostage, victim, etc.

On-Duty EMS Workers Are Not To Be Actively Victimized By Criminal Activity (Taken Hostage, Hurt, Killed, etc.)

If an EMS member is off-duty and is actively involved as a crime victim, they are to be freed and let go immediately. For example, kidnapping off-duty EMS is not allowed. If they are passively involved, such as having their store robbed, that is considered ok regardless of their duty status.

Respawning Results In Memory Loss Of The Previous Scene!

(No Revenge Crimes & No “Avenge My Death” Crimes)

  • If you “died” during a scene and wake up at a hospital, you CANNOT remember past events within the 15 minutes leading up to your death. The respawning system will inform you of any minor details you are allowed to remember. Furthermore, do not go back to the scene or scenario in which you have just been lifted from, unless you are:

    • Retrieving your asset(s), such as a car

    • Returning to your personal property. Players from the previous scene should vacate the area before you return, but if they don’t, they should leave without causing trouble due to the fact you already died once in their presence. Please call the police and only press charges for trespassing if they’re clearly being disorderly with the police.

    • Being questioned by police- in that case, answer their questions as the victim and leave, unless it is your personal property- please let the police bring you justice. It is recommended to vaguely remember the situation if this exception happens- do not give out any specifics because you can’t remember them!

  • Players that just killed another player: do not provoke / harm / kill the same character. Move on because they can’t remember what they did to you, which means you have lost your RP motive.

    • Other Examples Of Revenge Killing:

  • Tracking down the individual(s) responsible for your character's death if you respawned

  • Utilize your gang affiliation or motives as means to enact revenge on your killer(s) if you respawned given your gang was not affiliated with your death scenario.

  • Have one of your friends or associates track down your killer(s) and take revenge on them if you respawned, given your friend(s) was not affiliated with your death scenario.

No Disrupting RP Scenes!

(Exiting The Game, Random Involvement, Etc.)

We can tell if you have to leave vs you want to leave for some invalid reason. If for any reason you have to leave for a valid reason, such as real-life police or fire department work, please inform staff about your unpredictability prior to roleplaying. All players that need to leave urgently should RP a quick and proper exit before disconnecting. Please don’t disconnect in front of everyone unless you’re dealing with a legitimate Internet outage of some kind.

Furthermore, while we do love randomness, please don’t ruin the RP by throwing yourself into it. Saving your buddy from the cops without any valuable RP leading up to it is not condoned.

No Bulk-Buying Food & Drinks During Supply Shortages

Please be considerate of others. We all go hungry, we all get thirsty- save some for the rest of us. We deem it “malicious” to bulk-buy without solving the shortage problem. To avoid this, we recommend buying a variety should you want “a lot of food” at once- or “a lot of drinks” as well.

So please… be considerate of others.

We have updated this rule to only apply to when we have a state-wide shortage of food and drinks. If at least 5 of the stores/restaurants/bars each have at least 20 of an item in stock, there isn’t a shortage of that item.

Notice regarding ownership of store-based locations

Players can have 3 stores, 3 restaurants and 3 bars per user account. You can have up to 2 of each type on a single character before having to make a 2nd character to buy the remaining 1 of each (you can also do 3 characters that own one of each type). Grab ‘em while you can! They’re $110K each and easy to manage, even solo.

Your Characters Cannot Exchange Assets (Cars, Money, Etc.)

If you would like to request an asset transfer, open a support ticket and ask for a Senior Administrator or higher

If it is legitimately a situation like “Person A’s 1st character gave Person B money for a chocolate bar and then Person B gave Person A’s 2nd character that money” and the amount involved isn’t beyond something like $500, we won’t mind, especially because Person B spent money on the chocolate bar ultimately anyway. What we don’t want is Person A asking Person B to hold robbery money while Person A swaps characters because they want their other character to enjoy the robbery wealth.

We do in fact track this stuff very tightly. If you are caught breaking this rule, it will result in a ban at staff’s discretion. You will also lose the assets being smuggled from character to character in their entirety.

If you would like to request an asset transfer, open a ticket on Discord. Only Senior Administrator+ can approve requests.

No Suicidal RP Without Prior Staff Approval

A player may choose this type of roleplay to add a drama scene for EMS or to kill off their character. However, staff reserves the right to deny this type of roleplay because this is a type of RP some players and staff may feel uncomfortable with. Staff must ask all nearby players in OOC to leave the area if they feel uneasy about it and they must allow ample time to leave before the scene begins.

Miscellaneous Rules That Still Matter

This is a collection of small rules that don’t really need an explanation- simply follow the rules listed below:

  1. You must RP an adult character. Our server does not allow creating characters younger than December 31st, 2004. Please contact staff if your character is supposed to be born between 1/1/2005 and [today’s date], 2006, so we can set a custom birthdate.

  2. The staff team may allow select players of ages 15 - 17 to join our 18+ environment. For this reason, we are keeping some of the rules we had for our previous 16+ environment in place just in case that happens.

    • A real-life adult cannot date a real-life minor’s character- it’s just too questionable, even if limits are put in place. ADULTS WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY & ALL VIOLATIONS OF THIS RULE! If you have a specific edge-case that can reasonably be exempted from this rule, you are allowed to open a support ticket and discuss it with our staff team. Our staff team has FINAL SAY because we will protect any minors first.

    • Do not roleplay anything sexual or erotic if you are under 18. You must make it known that you’re not 18 before you witness anything 18+ and LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY.

    • Do NOT use the strip club as a stripper or as an audience member of a stripper’s act if you are under the age of 18. Everyone in the Vanilla Unicorn must be 18+ out of character in order for stripping/other 18+ activities to occur.

    • Do not use inappropriate / unrealistic clothing combinations. Any clothing combinations that fall under this rule may result in punishment based on multiple factors. Being invisible via your clothing is not allowed on the server and you will be asked to change.

    • Additionally, nudity is not allowed if you are not of 18+ years of age out-of-character. While we do force-enable a custom censorship system that blocks the ability to see nudity if the user is a minor, it isn’t a perfect solution, so you MUST stay away from IRL minors. Ask in OOC chat to find out whether or not you can proceed with nude RP or ERP (Erotic Roleplay).

  3. We will NOT allow or condone ANY form of “creeping” or “preying” that goes against ANY of our other players regardless of age or other factors. You will be immediately banned if you are caught doing anything malicious that involves this rule.

Always Value Your Life!

The Value of Life is a value used to quantify the benefit of avoiding a fatality or in the context of property & assets, the benefit of avoiding destruction. This applies to each and every person’s character(s) regardless of the role the character plays in our overall CLRP storyline. Our realistic environment will bring negative fate to anyone & their character(s) failing to follow the rules & guidelines listed below.

What About Self-Defense?
We’ve Described When/When Not To Use That Below:

  • Victims that resist an instigator in a 1v1 situation may have a fair fight if the situation is properly roleplayed, and the losing party must accept their fate, regardless of what it is. While there may be a way to beat the odds (such as catching someone off-guard), it’s best that you surrender if you have no reasonable chance against the instigator, such as having only your fists vs their gun aimed at your head.

Always train for self-defense beforehand- Repeat deaths via “self-defense gone wrong” may lead to a server punishment or permanent death of that character.

  • If the instigating party outnumbers you (2 or more people), you must comply or accept the “L” when they punish/kill you- You should not fight the instigating party in this case.

Repeating this mistake may lead to a server punishment or permanent death of that character

  • Cops are trained to be swift with their reactions- you will most likely end up hurt or dead in real life if you try to pull a gun or otherwise attack an officer trying to arrest you, so avoid doing something violent and dumb during their detainment process, please.

Repeating this mistake may lead to a server punishment or permanent death of that character

  • Vehicles are not battering rams for self-defense. You should get out of the car and decide, based on our rules, the next step in the RP sequence of events. Please allow officers to get out and fight back with their gun if you shoot at them while they’re driving.

Failure to follow this is a mistake ; repeating this mistake may lead to a server punishment or permanent death of that character

Other Examples Of Not Valuing Life:

  • Driving around and getting the high speed notification- we made it really easy to know when to slow down

  • Trying to make someone VDM you because why not- video proof of this will result in punishment!

  • RPing a character that isn’t afraid of death or near-death consequences- bluffing is allowed, but should only be used by officers that are trying to show no fear. The officers that use this tactic must actually fear death if the instigator starts demonstrating that their death is near.

  • Shooting a cop for pulling you over for a traffic stop. Please let them do their job.

  • RPing a character that never surrenders and always chooses to shoot back. Take a break from crime!

  • Mindlessly shooting a gun during a car meet or other peaceful situation

  • Refusing medical treatment despite EMS specifically telling you you’re in critical condition. Please let EMS do their job, they’re trying to help you!

Consider this when making drastic decisions or being under the assumption that you’re invincible.

Always Value Other People's Lives

(Depending On The Scene)

Certain scenes have to be exempt depending on the context and the timing, but you can still follow along with the guidelines listed below. The following should help everyone get a general idea of when to harm and when not to harm other players:

1) Hostages are obviously going to be risked. As outlined in the hostages rule, do not shoot or hurt anyone complying with your demands (be reasonable).

2) If it makes 0 sense to the scene, don't kill or hurt anyone. If you are in doubt with how staff will rule your case, take the safe route and don't hurt or threaten anyone.

3) If you (Person A) are having a gunfight with someone (Person B), give Person B a chance to surrender. Person B choosing not to surrender would warrant a reason to be harmed by Person A, so surrendering may help Person B value their own life. Always weigh your options before you shoot! You never know who will remain alive or die.

4) Please don’t permanently injure a player’s character without their prior approval. EMS has been granted an exemption because of things such as a surgery went wrong or “this person has too many wounds!”.

The player reserves the right to determine how long an injury as long as they RP it for at least 2 RP sessions, unless EMS decides to make their injury long-term (player has the choice to continue it after 7 RP sessions). Time may be adjusted by EMS. Making an injury permanent is the choice of the player if EMS would normally deem it to be a “long-term” injury.

If all EMS are off-duty and a player is immobilized, they may use medkits in order to get to a hospital for treatment. Do not harm them during that process.

Please don’t mag-dump a target that has fallen to the ground. They could be using /e prone or the F5 key to ragdoll. Some people want to pretend their dead, so if they look dead to you, save your bullets.

EMS will fairly tend to victims of injury, so please don’t try to die in order to avoid jail. Also, some hospitalization will result in loss of memory, where you will then follow the New Life Rule. This depends on the how severe the injuries are. Some injuries may still result in being hospitalized in order to treat the victim realisticly, so if NLR isn’t being applied, you are still eligible to go to jail in some cases.

Value Your Expensive Personal Vehicles & Other Assets!

This rule is designed to establish a sense of value for all assets in the game. Below is a list of limitations to prevent players from using their assets in an unrealistic manner:

Normal Driving:

-Do NOT take any non-offroad vehicle down a dirt road at a high speed without RPing the damage that would occur

-Do NOT drive any non-offroad car on the beach while disregarding the risk of it getting stuck.

Air Vehicles:

-Do NOT use an air vehicle during a crime as the primary escape vehicle. You need to hide from the police for a few minutes before escaping by air- air vehicles don’t like bullets.

-Unless you’re pre-approved by staff or you’re actually low on gas/out of gas, don’t pilot dangerously or land your aircraft via crashing.

Land Vehicle Pursuits:

-Please avoid using your expensive cars in a pursuit. A general price cap is $300K, based on the current market. Rarities like a classic from Luxury Autos shouldn’t be used.

Store & Bank Robberies:

-Please use common low-value land vehicles as your primary escape method should you choose to drive away. A general price cap is $100K, based on the current market. Rarities like a classic from Luxury Autos shouldn’t be used.

However, a few exemptions apply:

1) If the vehicle is not within the limits but is stolen from an NPC or is not owned (dealership demo vehicle, spawned by staff, etc), it is exempt if the police can handle chasing it.

2) If the vehicle is stolen from a person character is on bad terms with you, it’s exempt if the police can handle chasing it.

Further Rules & Guidelines For Valuing Assets:

Any owner of a stolen car is now a victim- they should report their car as stolen. The driver will become liable for any crimes unless the car is documented as stolen in the police MDT.

Out of respect for others, please ask before you modify their car. As of the time of stealing, the vehicle must remain "as-is" in order to be identifiable by police. Changing the paint color is allowed as long as the original color is documented via a game recording/live stream or screenshot.

Under no circumstances, including exemptions allowed by the previous statement, should anyone use vehicles worth $1,000,000 or more during any form of getaway if the police have not been 100% evaded yet.

Disclaimers & Closing Information:

Staff is allowed to block restocking by the dealership on a per-car basis, and this may be used to influence the rule- things like value may increase/decrease based on availability of a given vehicle model. Staff will use logs available to gauge the average market value. If log data is skewed due to errors in pricing, the price history of real-life counterparts will be evaluated.
